Rockfort temple Tiruchirapalli (Trichy) TN

Rock Fort Temple, otherwise known as Ucchi Pillayar temple is a lord Ganesha temple on top of a big rock, tallest in the Tiruchirapalli city. Climbing up hundreds of steps will test your stamina but the view from top is totally worth it.

There is a Rs 2 fee for footwear per person, Rs 3 entry fee per person, extra for camera. Majority of the steps are covered (inside the rock) while last 40 steps or so in the open. The rock temple is visible from the highway, but road closer to temple is very narrow. There is no proper parking closer to temple. I had to drive a few kms away and park in a lorry parking area.
