Kaunas Castle on the banks of Neris River
Kaunas Castle, or what remains of it, is one of the tourist attractions in Kaunas. Reportedly built in 1361 in Gothic style, the castle has seen many wars and has seen several ownership change. In its peak time, over 400 soldiers used to guard the castle.
Close up of the tower and below is Coat of Arms of Lithuania flag
When I went near the castle it was about 6PM and it was closed. It reportedly serves as art gallery but there was no information as to when it will open, so I didn't bother going again next day. Around the castle there are lots of green area and it is located on the banks of river Neris. The campus around is very nice to relax. Wikipedia has detailed history of the Kaunas castle if you are interested.
