Bilikal Rangaswamy betta, Kanakapura, Bangalore
Bilikal Rangaswamy betta is a lesser known hill some some 75 kms from Bengaluru. It is some 15 kms off Kanakapura. The last 4 kms do not have smooth roads, can be covered by SUVs or by foot. Bili Kal means white stone in Kannada. The hill gets its name from a large white stone at the centre of the hill.
Bilikal Rangaswamy betta offers nice view all around. Below are some photos of the destination.
For some reason, this destination remains lesser known and hasn't caught fancy of weekend travelers. May be it is good to leave this place that way, we don' want it to become another Nandi Hills
Other nearby places: Bheemeshwari * Galibore * Sangama * Ramanagara *

ReplyDeleteIt is rightly said that Bilikal Rangaswamy betta hasn't caught fancy of weekend travelers. It is near Kanakapura, which is a town in the state of Karnataka situated 55 km from the city Bengaluru. There are many places to visit in Kanakapura and it is also an ideal place for short trips.
ReplyDeleteHey Shrinidhi!
ReplyDeleteawsm photos!
Is it possible and safe to reach the hilltop with a bike? And is watching sunrise from the hilltop possible?
I want to take my gf on a surprise ride from bangalore. Will it be a nice option?
Thanks in advance! :)
Hi, Information I have is 4 year old- not sure if anything has changed in recent times.
ReplyDeleteRoad was not very comfortable for bikes back then. Too far to walk from base. I suggest you check with anyone who's been there recently or do a trial trip with friends the previous weekend.
If you are unlucky you might find local youngsters drinking or camping in the area. Taking girlfriend might not be 100% safe. Going in groups is recommended. But try to get some latest intel and decide.
